Established in 1978, Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver’s (BBGV) mission is to support child and youth development through Volunteer-led mentoring programs. Our vision is to put a mentor in the life of every child and youth who needs one. We provide various mentoring programs for children who require extra support and friendship. Having a caring role model has shown to lead to endless positive outcomes for children, because when children are emotionally, socially, and physically healthy, everyone in the community benefits. BBGV serves over 1000 children annually throughout the Lower Mainland and Sea-to-Sky Corridor. Most of the children are from low-income single-mother households, or families who are facing multiple barriers and a lack of positive role models for the child. BBGV strives to ensure that children from all backgrounds have access to our programs.

BabyGoRound is a registered charity, which has been operating out of a store-like facility on Kingsway since October 2012. Our mission is to help families in need in Greater Vancouver to safely care for their babies and toddlers by providing them with essential baby gear, such as cribs and strollers, that they might otherwise not be able to access. Families are served from a wide range of communities throughout the Lower Mainland. BabyGoRound relies heavily on individuals and families to donate gently used items, which are then redistributed to close to 800 families each year.
We connect people and empower them to create the change they want to see in their communities. The Association of Neighbourhood Houses of B.C. (ANHBC) oversees seven neighbourhood houses and an outdoor centre, through which we operate more than 300 community-based programs and services for a diversity of participants. Through ANHBC, you can build strong, supportive relationships and pursue your passions at welcoming and inclusive sites throughout Metro Vancouver.
Whether you like working with children, youth, adults or seniors, at cultural facilities, festivals and special events, or contributing as a member of a council-appointed group, there is a volunteer opportunity for you. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to contribute to your community and help establish a personal and professional network. You can also make new friends, practise English and develop leadership skills that can be transferable to a career. Please note: You do not need to be a West Vancouver resident to volunteer for most opportunities (although you do for some committees and working groups). Most volunteer positions have a minimum age requirement of 14 years. Some volunteer placements require a Police Information Check (PIC).
The Metro Vancouver Dream Centre works to bridge the issues of food insecurity and food waste. Through our two ongoing primary projects, a hot meal service and a community food bank, we work to provide donated food to people who need it. Our meal service is held two Fridays a month in East Vancouver, and we serve a nutritious dinner to approximately 70 to 100 people. Our no-barrier food bank is held two Fridays a month in East Vancouver and serves approximately 80 to 100 people. We also put on an annual Thanksgiving dinner for the community, where we serve a full Thanksgiving meal to 300 to 500 people. Our clients come from many types of situations. Some live outdoors or in shelters, while many have apartments or rooms. Some are on social assistance, and some work but are unable to afford both rent and food. Some are elderly, and we also serve families with children. Our volunteers are a diverse group working together for a common purpose: reducing food waste, increasing access to nutritious food, and creating community.
The Disability Foundation primarily supports six charitable societies that provide accessible and meaningful activities.
For women who have been displaced from their homes and estranged from their families, special occasions can be particularly challenging. Often, women report feeling disconnected from society, invisible and alone.  A Shoebox gift is a powerful reminder for a woman that she has not been forgotten and that she remains a valued and respected member of her community. For those giving gifts, The Shoebox Project is a tangible and creative opportunity to give back directly to someone in your very own community. It’s a small, simple gesture of kindness that has an immediate, positive impact on the woman who receives it.
Community Evolution (CE) is a non-profit organization, founded in 2015. We currently support enterprises in Bolivia, Ecuador, and Canada (British Columbia).

We rescue perfectly viable food that is destined for our waste stream and get it into the hands of those who are hungry in our society.  We partner with food retailers, nonprofit organizations and volunteer food runners to bring food directly to those who are experiencing food insecurity.
