Opportunity Description:

The Board of Directors of The Friends of Jericho Arts Centre Society (FOJACS), is seeking a qualified volunteer to serve as the Board’s Treasurer. FOJACS is the not-for-profit society that manages the Jericho Arts Centre.
The Job: The Treasurer maintains the bookkeeping for the Society recording financial transactions and creating financial reports in addition to participating in all Board decisions. Duties include offering financial guidance to the Board and posting financial data to accounting software from such source documents as invoices, cash receipts, contracts and supplier/contractor invoices on a monthly basis – the budget is relatively small and the transactions are few. Duties include reconciliation of accounts monthly ensuring their accuracy, preparation of current financial reports for each of the Board’s meetings (approx. once per month), and preparation of the year-end Financial Statements for review by the Board’s auditor and presentation to the AGM. Preparation and submission of the annual CRA reports is also required.
Required Skills: Experience in keeping the books for a small not for profit organization. A background in the not-for-profit sector would be advantageous but a working knowledge of Quickbooks Online accounting software is necessary.
