Opportunity Description:

The Fraser River Discovery Centre needs your help to run our popular River School program!

The FRDC is a field trip destination for students in the Lower Mainland and beyond. Groups arrive at the Centre, located on the New Westminster Quay, to learn more about the industry, culture and the environment of the Fraser. If you enjoy working with children and are passionate about history, science and art, this position is for you!

Our School Programs Leaders lead programs Wednesday to Friday in the morning and/or the afternoon. As a volunteer, you will take a group of ten-twelve children around the center to different exhibits and lead various activities with them.
Our current team is made up of retired teachers and University students studying to work in the field of education.

This position will give you great experience working with kids and using inquiry based teaching methods. You will also learn all about the history, culture, and environment of the Fraser River!

REQUIREMENTS
-Must be able to pass a Criminal Record Check
-An interest in working with children
-Have good communication skills
-Be dedicated and committed to the program!

MORE INFO
-Shifts are Wednesday to Friday 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM
-You will be provided with training and orientation
-You will gain strong leadership skills and experience working with children in an educational environment
