Opportunity Description:

The North Vancouver Visitor Centre seeks part time volunteers to assist as Visitor Information Counsellors. We are looking for local residents who feel confident promoting North Vancouver’s tourism products and services. As a North Vancouver Visitor Centre volunteer and ambassador you will play an essential role in maintaining the service excellence that is expected by our visitors, local business and industry partners. Candidates must be outgoing and have excellent customer service skills, team skills and a sense of humour. Candidates must work well under pressure and demonstrate initiative. They also need to have a solid knowledge of the local area and tourism opportunities in the region. Fluency in a second language is an asset but not essential. Duties and Responsibilities Approach, greet and welcome visitors to the North Vancouver Visitor Centre. Answer visitor enquiries in person, on the phone and by email. Assist visitors in planning their sightseeing activities by using the computer and resources on hand. Refer visitors to the complementary reservations services offered at the North Vancouver Visitor Centre. Promote local tourism attractions, tours and businesses. Provide accurate community information. Acquire a sound knowledge of British Columbia’s different regions, publications and programs. Monitor and maintain brochure racks and other publications. Post current event information of interest to visitors & locals. Help maintain cleanliness and organization of Centre. Miscellaneous Lonsdale Quay Market duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working in a busy outdoor environment. Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. Reliable and responsible. Term Minimum 4 hours per week on regular basis from May to September and or year round. Hours are subject to change depending on Visitor Centre operation hours and other volunteers’ schedules.
