Children’s Autism Federation of B.C. (CAFBC) was founded as a grassroots organization to hold the government accountable for policy decisions surrounding individual autism funding in British Columbia (B.C.). As we continue to navigate through the political and ethical issues surrounding any shift in a service delivery model, the Children’s Autism Federation of B.C. remains focused on ensuring that all autistic children and their families have their voices amplified and their needs understood. CAFBC will continue to hold the government accountable for any change that will negatively impact children in the autism community and continue to bring awareness to these issues.

WHAT WE DO

Children's Autism Federation of BC has focused on advocacy and support for a service delivery model that truly encompasses the needs of all autistic children. We are non-profit organization that receives no government funding. The primary focus being the importance of retaining individual funding and timely diagnosis. CAFBC also supports families throughout their pre to post-diagnosis journey. We have provided recommendations to the Government on a framework for children and youth with support needs.

Most recently, CAFBC launched our Research and Support Division. This enables families to find resources and support within a one-stop-shop delivery model. Families may access support for the application of autism funding, advocacy-related resources or even autism-related recommendations.

CityReach Care Society is looking for motivated and enthusiastic volunteers to help prepare fresh and healthy food hampers to serve over 1000 families each week.

Food for Families is a free, nutritious foodbank for vulnerable families and seniors in the Greater Vancouver Area. We serve over 1000 households with wholesome and healthy food including fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, proteins and grains.

Cluborate (Cluborate Community) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to see all the youth organizations that aspire to create greater impacts to the people around us. We hope to expose both clubs and students to more opportunities to learn, engage and grow from participating in what interests us. At Cluborate, we are firm believers in providing youth with opportunities to get connected and connecting initiatives so they could collaborate to create greater impacts. We hope to see youth clubs and organizations working together to build a memorable high-school experience for students and volunteer executives. As each of us has our own unique talents and ambitions, we aspire for all youth to have a platform to connect with each other.

Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) is a unique and innovative community justice initiative for post release support and accountability of offenders in and by the community. CoSA VFV also provides public education programming on how to create safe communities for all.

Established in 1989, Coastal Research, Education, and Advocacy Network empowers vulnerable low-income and racialized youth through research, education, and advocacy.

Our community-based research informs our services, with the intention of deepening connections and improving the lives of youth, families, and their communities. We work closely with residents and community leaders in British Columbia and Ontario to advocate, both locally and nationally, on behalf of youth to make our province a better place to live.

Compassion Globally is a Canadian registered charitable society that is working to reduce abuse and sexual violence inflicted upon women and girls. We are addressing the issue through awareness and prevention campaigns.

The ConnecTra Society provides outreach services primarily for mobility and physically impaired individuals in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. It serves as a connecting agency, linking people with physical disabilities to activities and programs that will, over time, allow them to grow, gain confidence and become increasingly more active and involved in community life.

ConnecTra Society helps people with physical disabilities connect with work, leisure and social opportunities throughout Metro Vancouver.

It is one of the affiliated societies of the Vancouver-based Sam Sullivan Disability Foundation.

VOLUNTEER MENTORS ARE NEEDED!
ConnecTra Society has a new research program, Employment Mentorship Support Project, in partnership with University of British Columbia’s Department of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science.
ConnecTra is seeking volunteer mentors to support individuals with physical disabilities in pursuit of employment, training, education, volunteering, recreation and increased social involvement.
Typical support includes researching community resources, job searches, and registration of participants at their local Work BC Employment Services Centre.
Volunteer Mentors will need to have previous employment experience, clear a criminal record check for vulnerable adults, and commit to volunteering over an eight-month period.
The attendance of a day-long volunteer orientation is required:
Saturday, March, 26, 2016 10- 4pm at Creekside Community Centre, 1 Athletes Way, Multi-Purpose Room # 4, Vancouver, BC V5Y 0B1. The nearest skytrain stations are Main Street Science World (Expo Millennium Line) and Olympic Village (Canada Line). Lunch will be provided.ConnecTra reimburses Volunteer Mentors for parking and Translink.

Cwenengitel Aboriginal Society is a non-profit organization that provides safe, central, suitable housing for Aboriginal Men. The approach to wellness offered by Cwenengitel is more encompassing than the standard form offered by conventional rehabilitation centers.  We focus on healing the whole person and our projects are designed to utilize all aspects of our culture to break the chain of substance abuse, alcoholism, and family violence.  We provide counseling services and educational assistance for all our residence with the aim of reintegrating them back into society

We aim at providing a fighting chance for all people born with hearing or vision disabilities in a rapidly changing world that is becoming more and more technologically advanced.
