The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run. It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause. What you’ll be doingAs a volunteer, you’ll support and lead a range of programs designed to promote safety in Mount Pleasant:Foot and Bike Patrols: Walk or cycle through the community, engaging with residents, checking in on areas of concern, offering aid such as water, snacks, or socks to those in need, picking up discarded needles or debris, and helping create a welcoming public space.Community Cleanups: Help keep Mount Pleasant clean and welcoming through regular garbage and litter removal initiatives.Information & Referrals: Provide support and guidance to residents and visitors seeking local resources or services.Community Outreach: Represent the MPCPC at public events, fairs, and educational workshops.Road Safety: Participate in pedestrian and road safety campaigns, including speed watch, cell watch, and school safety programs. You’ll also receive training from MPCPC staff and partner organizations such as the Vancouver Police Department and ICBC. You should be comfortable talking to people from diverse backgrounds and be team-oriented, respectful, and community-focused.You don’t need previous experience—we provide all training. Requirements:Willing to complete a Vancouver Police Information Check.Able to commit to at least 6 hours per month for at least 6 months.At least 17 years old.
